Media Affairs Advisor - AMERICAN SYSTEMS - Alabama

American Systems is seeking Media Affairs Advisors for a critical Department of State program supporting the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

Media Affairs in OSCE field activities provides two specialized services:

Press and Public Information work involves, among other things, the preparation and dissemination of information about the OSCE and its activities to local and international media, communicating to the public by means of professionally edited, targeted public information material and undertaking other projects to raise the profile of the mission/ field activity among the host community.

Media Development work involves initiating, planning, organizing and implementing programs to promote the development of independent, pluralist and professional media. It may also involve media monitoring activities to promote full compliance with OSCE principles and commitments regarding the freedom of the media.

About REACT and the OSCE:
In November 1999, the participating States (pS) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) endorsed Rapid Expert and Assistance Cooperation Teams (better known as REACT) as a tool to enable the OSCE to deploy civilian experts more rapidly to the field to undertake activities associated with conflict prevention, crisis management and post-conflict rehabilitation. The OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) sponsors election monitoring missions in OSCE pS and Partner countries. The OSCE’s Partner States include: Japan, Republic of (South) Korea, Mongolia, Thailand, Afghanistan, and Australia (as Asian Partners for Cooperation), and Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia (as Mediterranean Partners for Cooperation).
