Summer Job - First Aid/Program Staff for Int'l Teen Camp (Virginia) - Legacy International / Global Youth Village - Bedford, VA
Workshops address issues concerning young people today, such as war and peace, arts & culture, distribution of world resources, prejudice, environmental concerns, and other social pressures. Cultural programming and cooperative living help participants learn to respect differences and discover similarities that transcend cultural, religious, and political barriers.
GYV is seeking a Health Care Manager
This lay person role is typically a good fit for someone with a background in social work, counseling, public health or health care (or studying in one of these areas).
Work with GYV’s RN to provide basic first aid and health services. Monitor the health, cleanliness, and risk management standards of the overall program. Duties include: assisting the nurse with health screenings and general first aid, serving as the initial point of contact when a health needs arises among staff or participants, escorting people to physicians for treatment, administering routine medications.
This person also gets invovled in other aspects of the GYV expereinceas health care duties allow. This aspect of the job is tailored to specific interests and talents and may include:
Assist in the design and delivery of select evening programs or other special events .
Lead occasional afternoon activities or electives (arts, sports or ???) or fulfill some other programmatic role of interest
Must be 21 years of age or older with a valid U.S. driver’s license and a good driving record. First aid and CPR certification is also required.
Qualifications:
Experience working with teens and adults, preferably in a health care or social services role. (Student nurses will be considered.)
Ability to establish work priorities, to respond to unanticipated needs and emergencies.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others (oral & written), especially under pressure.
Desire and ability to work in a rural, camp setting.
Fluent in English; ability to converse in other languages helpful.
Current CPR and first aid certification (adult only needed).
Minimum age, 21 years old.
Valid, U.S. driver’s license, with a good driving record.
Interest in health care and multicultural approaches to health and illness.

Positions are residential and include housing and meals, plus a modest salary beginning at $225/week (negotiable depending on expereince).
