Proposal / Marketing Coordinator - Coffman Engineers, Inc. - Anchorage, AK
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is able to write concisely and persuasively to join our Anchorage office marketing team. You will periodically pitch in on marketing messaging, but your primary focus will be owning the process to craft winning proposals that keep our engineers engineering.
You will:
- Work hand-in-hand with marketing gurus, engineers, and legal and human resources to gather intel; assess the prospective clients’ needs, the services we will provide them, and the competitive environment.
- Write a plain-English proposal with technically complex concepts that non-technical readers can understand. Each proposal is custom-written, working from various InDesign templates. It could be a single page, or 30 pages. It could be in response to a government request for proposal or an architect’s request for qualifications. Every situation is different.
- Assist with internal and external messaging through press releases and award preparation.
- Assume the title of master juggler. You will be the detail-focused, schedule-driven, multiple-hat-wearing, punctuation-enforcing coordinator. You will have an eye for graphic design, a brain for strategic thinking, and a passion for learning new concepts.
- Have a background as a marketing copywriter, proposal coordinator, grant writer, or public relations professional.
To be clear, you don’t need to have a Ph.D. in technical writing or engineering for the position, but you should have practical, working knowledge of the processes involved in pursuing work through persuasive writing.
Skills desired:
- Team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Client-focused ability to communicate effectively, provide a high level of attention to detail, and handle multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal skills and be flexible within a large scope of responsibilities.
- Highly organized; able to take direction and work independently.
- Proficient with MS Office 365 programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, and PowerPoint) and Adobe CC (InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat).
Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
This is a job that requires use of the both the left and right sides of your brain. Few people can do it well. For the right person, it’s a great job. Your application is your best opportunity to demonstrate the skills required.
To apply, please provide:
- A single-page cover letter that briefly details your experience, and describes what drives you personally.
- A resume that includes your professional experience, achievements, and organizational involvement.
- Work samples. Proposals…press releases…brochures…we’d love to see them!
Please combine all files into one document to upload with your online application. We look forward to learning more about you!
