Iowa Fertilizer Company(IFCo) is currently seeking a Millwright to become part of our organization at our location in Wever, Iowa.

Job Description

IFCo is looking for a Millwright to join our Reliability and Maintenance team in Wever, Iowa. This individual will be responsible for the repair and installation of machinery at the Iowa Fertilizer Plant in addition to supporting the maintenance requirements of the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

At a minimum, tasks will include:

• Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the safety of his or her own self, or the safety of others.
  


• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair various pieces of equipment/machines.
  


• Align & level machines and equipment using lasers, hoists, jacks, hand tools, etc.
  


• Perform laser alignment on rotating equipment.
  


• Level and troubleshoot level issues on machinery.
  


• Assemble and install equipment / machines using hand and power tools.
  


• Layout mounting holes, using measuring instruments and drill holes with power tools.
  


• Replace defective parts of machines or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
  


• Remove and replace mechanical seals.
  


• Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
  


• Manufacture spare parts as needed.
  


• Assist with machine shop / workshop cleaning.
  


• Operate lathe to grind, file and return machine parts to dimensional specifications.
  


• Follow company safety and health guidelines and other company policies.
  


• Support metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection and testing using knowledge of machine function, metal properties and mathematics.
  


• All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  


• May be required to occasionally work overtime (turnaround, shutdowns, nights, weekends, on-call).
  


• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs.
  


• Ability to climb straight ladders.
  


• Some work may require heights in excess of 100 feet.
  


• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  


• Physical requirements – bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 lbs.
  


• Confined space entry may be required.
  


• Wearing a respirator when/where required to perform inspections/job duties.
  


• Industrial chemical plant environment.
  


• Noise levels may require hearing protection.
  

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent, along with a 4 year apprenticeship or documented vocational and on-the-job training. A skill related associate’s degree will count towards experience.
  

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years, experience supporting environmental compliance in the chemical industry or other industrial manufacturing. Fertilizer manufacturing experience is a plus.
  


• Experience working with laser alignment.
  


• Experience working on API pumps, compressors, turbines, and fans.
  


• Experience with leveling baseplates and shimming rotating equipment.
  


• Experience working with lathes, milling machines, shaper/grinders is a plus.
  


• Mechanical and electrical knowledge.
  


• Good trouble shooting skills.
  


• Ability to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and hard working.
  


• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  


• Ability to gather and evaluate complex information.
  


• Ability to use personal computer software for word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
  


• Experience with SAP a plus.
  


• Valid driver’s license required.
