ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Provides day-to-day management of NDI Algeria program to support political parties, women’s political participation, and civil society development?
? Develops and facilitates training sessions and ongoing consultations for NDI’s Algerian program partners in Algiers as well as areas outside the capital?
? Develops targeted training and reference material for program partners and beneficiaries?
? Provides day-to-day management, oversight, and mentoring of a team of local program staff in the Algeria office?
? Maintains collaborative relationships with international democratic development organizations, civic organizations, national and international news organizations, political party networks and partners, and NDI’s network of volunteer trainers and experts?
? Drafts and submits accurate and timely reports that detail program activities? monitors and evaluates program results in collaboration with colleagues in Algeria and Washington DC? and provides analysis of political developments?
? Ensures adherence to financial requirements and monitors program’s annual budget? provides full, accurate and timely accounting of all funds? and
? Represents NDI to Algeria-based members of the international and diplomatic community and assists with the Institute’s public outreach strategy in Algeria and elsewhere as required.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
? Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in International Relations or related subject? graduate degree desired?
? Minimum of eight (8) years’ relevant work experience (ten years [10] for the title of Sr. Program Manager) in international development, community organizing, political campaigns, organizational development, legislative affairs, women’s political participation, civil society participation, or equivalent experience at NDI. Additional years of relevant work experience may be substituted for educational requirement on a one-for-one basis?
? Living or working experience outside of the U.S. preferred, especially in the Middle East and North Africa region.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
? Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively interact with all levels of staff, partner organizations, U.S. and foreign government personnel, members of donor organizations, and policy makers?
? Strong language skills in French, Arabic, and/or English strongly preferred?
? Demonstrated ability to conduct and apply sophisticated political analysis to programmatic activities, and adjust activities in response to changing circumstances or needs articulated by local partners?
? Excellent managerial, interpersonal, and networking skills and ability to conduct professional relationships in a multicultural environment, including with senior political party leaders and grassroots level party members as well as civic activists?
? Proven capacity to meet program goals while managing financial and administrative responsibilities? experience in resultsoriented program design, strategic planning, and program evaluation?
? Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Drive, email, and spreadsheets?
? Ability and willingness to travel to regional locations within Algeria, which are often remote and difficult to reach.
