Event Coordinator with theater experience, Global Youth Village (Summer Jobs, Virginia) - Legacy International / Global Youth Village - Bedford, VA
Each summer since 1979, a dynamic community is created at the Global Youth Village that emphasizes experiential learning and challenges young people to turn intercultural theory into practical action. This year 50+ teens and staff from around the world will participate. 2016 highlights include youth leaders from Algeria and Egypt.
Workshops address issues concerning young people today, such as war and peace, arts & culture, distribution of world resources, prejudice, environmental concerns, and other social pressures. Cultural programming and cooperative living help participants learn to respect differences and discover similarities that transcend cultural, religious, and political barriers.
Evening Program Coordinator: Oversee program planning and delivery to enhance cultural appreciation, community building and promoting a sense of vision for the future. Main responsibilities include collaborating with administrative staff to monitor youth dynamic and experience, and coordinating the delivery of all aspects of camp-wide programs . These include:
cultural festivals involving skits, power point presentations, dance, ethnic meals, songs, carnivals;
global issues presentations & discussions;
recreational events such as dances, games, and fairs;
talent nights.
Work with the administrative team, other staff, youth, and special guests to develop well-facilitated programs and cultural presentations, which includes stage set-up and decorations.
Applicants should have program design experience, supervisory and event planning skills, and an ability to manage, delegate, inspire, and draw upon the talents of different people. Skills in leading large group games and performance experience are also helpful.

Health care staff – lay or licensed. A good fit for those with backgronds in social work or health care fields.
Food service staff for our whole foods, vegetarian kitchen – experienced and entry level.

Dates: July 3 – August 16, 2016. (This includes staff training. Select administrative, support and teaching postions start on July 1.)
Positions are residential and include housing and meals, plus a modest salary (range $225 – $450/week).
